In the Faculty Council and library committees, students from the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience have called for an increase in the number of study places in the Randwyck Library. To investigate the possibilities for this, a work group consisting of representatives from the student body, faculties, General and Technical Services (FD) and the library was set up. The result was a recommendation to the Executive Board to extend the Randwyck Library with 177 study places, increasing the total number (including those in the Learning and Resource Centre and LINK) to 1056. The plan has since been approved. The new study places will be located on the first and second floors of the library, and the current mix of individual and group study places will be maintained.
Renovation and refurbishment activities
In the week of 10 May, a Randwyck Library Refurbishment Taskforce began working towards achieving the plans. The renovation and refurbishment activities will take place during the summer period as far as possible. This means that the majority of the new study places will be finished before the start of the new academic year 2010/11.
Potential inconvenience
The library will remain open during the renovation and refurbishment. In the coming months, therefore, you may experience some inconvenience while studying in the library. In order for you to take this into account, we will keep you informed of the activities via the Library Wall and the electronic notice boards above the library entrance.
- The possibilities in this room on level 2 will soon be extended with a moveable touchscreen and moveable furniture.
- After summer, a quiet zone will be set up here where you can study individually or in small groups.
- We have rearranged the bookshelves on level 1 to create study places where you can enjoy a pleasant, living room feel.

My sister is actually frustrated. Because instructions don’t work, and the shopping center is closed.
