Early 2010 the services of the University Library and Languages Center were assessed by a peer review team chaired by the former executive director of the Dutch Royal Academy, professor Van Drimmelen. The committee interviewed faculty, staff, students and third parties that make use of the library services.
The peers were thrilled about the state-of-the-art study facilities with smartboards and flexible learning spaces for both group and individual use. Also, the wide range of digital information was positively assessed. In general, the services match users’ expectations. The services are diverse, but relevant. Suggestions were made to improve the organizational effectiveness.
Furthermore, the committee recommends to initiate users groups. In this way, students and faculty may give direct input on experiences and changing needs. One issue has already been taken up: the house regulations have been changed, creating more silence areas. If you would like to become member of the library user group, please send a message to email y.froeling@maastrichtuniversity.nl, including a cv and a brief motivation to join the library user group.
