As of today the Library Catalogue has a new version: the new look and feel is probably the first thing that catches your eye. There are also some new features that deserve your attention.
Unfortunately there are also some imperfections: some text messages and loan information for instance can be confusing. If you encounter a problem, please don’t hesitate to Ask your Librarian for Help. Problems will be solved as soon as possible.
New features
- Approximate search
Searches were always executed using the exact search terms that had been entered in the search box.
If you use the new checkbox ‘approximate search’ (see below) your search results will also include results that slightly differ from the search terms you use.
- Less
If you prefer a Google-like search: the option ‘less’ presented next to the search button (as you can see above) is appropriate for you. Only one search box will appear enabling you to search in ‘all’ fields in one go.
- Availability icons
The search results are presented as usual in a list. New in this list is the availability indication.
Two important icons are:
the publication is available
the publication is on loan: reservation is possible
Electronic resources like e-journals lack this kind of indication: they are continuously available.
- Filters and Hints
Filters and hint are presented at the left hand side of your search results.- filters enable you e.g. to restrict your search results to books, or online resources, or results in Dutch-language
- hints are suggestions for additional search actions.
- RSS Feeds
Using Internet Explorer 7 (or a more recent version) or Mozilla Firefox you can subscribe to RSS-feeds based on your search results set. Please consult the ‘Help’ link (top right in the catalogue) for a browser related instruction.
