The DawsonEra reading portal provides access to the full text in PDF-format of 52 e-books. This selection is continually growing and it covers all disciplines of Maastricht University (UM). The e-books have been published by various academic publishers from around the world.
Our license allows 325–400 views per title, per year. The exact number differs per publisher. A view counts when you open or read an e-book online: a credit opens and remains valid for 24 hours. The books are integrated in the e-book list and in the library catalogue as well.
The remaining lines of this news item provide information about the necessity of a personal account at Dawson’s and the rules for downloading. On the bottom you will find some access tips.
You will be prompted to login with your personal account (or create it) when you try to perform an action that requires personal identification; the account is free of charge.
Your account facilitates copying, printing, random access to book chapters and sharing the metadata (data about the selected e-book) with friends. Printing as well as copying (available in the ‘read only’ version of the e-book) is limited to a maximum of 5% per user per e-book. This will be indicated during the process of printing or copying. The personal account enables you also to highlight text and make notes in e-books and save those for later use.
Downloading
Downloading is possible; however access to the download is limited to a maximum of 2 days. Once you have downloaded the book, information on the exact expiry date and time of your availability will be displayed.
Printing or copying from downloaded books is not possible.
Export of bibliographic data from the reading portal to Endnote is possible.
