Embase coverage extended

Since January, the coverage of Embase (a major biomedical and pharmaceutical database indexing over 3,500 international journals) for the Maastricht University and teaching hospital azM has been extended with the period 1974-1988. It is now possible to search for articles from 1974 onward.
Embase covers articles in the following fields: drug research, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, toxicology, clinical and experimental human medicine, health policy and management, public health, occupational health, environmental health, drug dependence and abuse, psychiatry, forensic medicine, and biomedical engineering/instrumentation. There is selective coverage for nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, psychology, and alternative medicine.
Embase serves as a good complement to Pubmed. In a lot of cases Embase is necessary for EBM-searches and reviews. Approximately 375,000 records are added yearly.
