A recent literature study from Surf regarding storage of and access to research data, concludes that there is no single answer to the question what researchers need to enable them to store their research data and make them accessible. A national project proposal, Controlled Access to Research Data, Stored Securely (CARDS) is based on the outcome of this study.

In the Faculty Council and library committees, students from FHML and FPN have called for an increase in the number of study places in the Randwyck Library. The possibilities were investigated. The result was a recommendation to extend the Randwyck Library with 177 study places. This plan has been approved: the renovation and refurbishment activities will start in July.

For the selection of the new director of the University Library and the Language Centre, an open recruitment procedure was held. The selection committee has chosen Ingrid Wijk as the new director. The committee consisted of: Gerard Mols (rector, chair), Rein de Wilde (dean FASoS), Rosalie Welie (personnel advisor), Henk van den Hoogen (library manager, ERS department), and Marianne de Ruwe (associate librarian). On 1 August Ingrid will start her new job.
